He gained equal popularity in Urdu and Punjabi films by awakening the magic of sound. During his career, he sang 244 songs for more than 150 Urdu and Punjabi films, most of which were super hits. As an actress, she proved her mettle, but she also proved her mettle in singing.
She has the distinction of being the most successful singer of the fifties after Queen Tarun Noor Jahan.
During her studies, Zubeida Khanum was introduced to Radio Pakistan by one of her teachers, inspired by her singing, from where her artistic journey began. She came into contact with the Pakistani film world in 1951 when she acted in the film "Blue". She also acted in the early years of her career, during which time she showed the essence of acting in films like Morni and Pate Khan. She got her real identity in 1951 when she appeared as a playback singer and the songs she sang for the film "Shehri Babu" released this year became very popular.
It is said that Zubeida Khanum's family was unhappy with her making music as a career, but they have always loved singing and were very happy to go to the studio. At the height of her career, she said goodbye to the world of music by marrying Riaz Bukhari, a well-known cameraman in the Pakistani film industry. She left behind two sons and two daughters to mourn. Riaz Bukhari's husband died.
His son Faisal Bukhari is a renowned cameraman and director in the Pakistan film industry.
Although Zubeida Khanum did not belong to a large traditional musical family, her charming voice and cheerful singing made her a leading singer in just a few years. She came into the industry at a time when big names were here. Artists like Mehdi Hassan were starting their careers in those days. Zubeida Khanum's greatest achievement is that she proved her mettle in the presence of Queen Tarun Noor Jahan She was probably the only singer to have sung most of the songs.
According to an estimate, Zubeida Khanum sang 244 songs for 147 films. Many of his songs sung in Urdu and Punjabi are still very popular today. , Seo Ni Meera Dil Dharke (Sheikh Chali 1950), Dupatta Beiman Ho Gaya (Shehri Babu 1953) Asan Jan Ke Mat Lei Akhwe (Heer 1955) Way Mein Nar Patole Vargi (Mahi Manda 1956), Resham Da Lacha Luckway (Yekwali 1957), Many of his songs like Mara Dil Chana Kach Da Khaduna (Makhra 1958), Gauri Gauri Channi Di Thandi (Kartar Singh 1959), and Chhad Janvi Naam Chana Bana Phad Ke (Patan) are still popular today.
About a year before her demise, Radio Pakistan Lahore had also organized a reception for Zubeida Khanum in which the then Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira and a large number of people from Showbiz were present. Also attended. On this occasion, the singers sang a memorable song in front of her. Zabida Begum had given up film singing after her marriage. However, she regularly attended Milad and Durood and Salam ceremonies. Khanum passed away on October 19, 2013 at the age of 78 due to cardiac arrest.
